Bahamas Teaser

It has been almost 2 weeks since we have been back from the Bahamas, and we are still uploading pictures. We had an awesome time, and we are so thankful to Tamara and Dallas as well as Dallas' family. We spent a week in the Exuma Cays (pronounced keys) on a 45 foot house boat with 10 other people. We only knew Tamara and Dallas when we started out, but we met 10 fantastic people!!

I wanted to put a few of the pictures up...the first picture is of a storm that followed us from Nassau to Exuma. Once we anchored in the Cays, it rained for about 15 minutes and then it was bright and sunny again.
This is one of the views we had from the boat. This boat was owned by a guy that lived on the island that we anchored near.
The next two pictures are a couple of the critters that we encountered on the trip. The first is a baby conch (pronounced Konk). There were tons of these little guys where we were anchored. We actually picked up quite a few of the big ones, and several people helped clean them....sometimes people will skin them using their teeth :). And of course, you should try everything once....Robert actually skinned one of these things with his teeth :). We used several of them in conch salad, and then the waste also known as conch slop was used in traps to catch fish. The meat can be eaten raw (which is what we put in the salad) and has the texture of cooked chicken. Fortunately for this guy, it was a baby, so it got tossed back into the ocean after its photoshoot.
The second critter seen here is a crawfish. It is basically a lobster without the claws. In place of the claws are whips....which are spiny. These were caught using spears. They taste soooo good...just like lobster :). Behind the crawfish is a bigger conch shell.
